Well done to our Y5 and Y6 Cross Country runners for the first three races we’ve had in the Autumn term!

It has been great to have lots of new runners joining our team, adding to our returning members from last year. All of the runners have done brilliantly with persevering with their stamina in some busy matches, with some races having up to 70 runners!

We have been training hard on Thursday lunchtimes, practicing our running techniques and would love to see more join us in the off season.

Race 1:

Well done to our Y5 and Y6 Cross Country runners today at the first sporting event of the year! It was great to see new runners joining our team from last year and all did brilliantly!

Final Meet:

Thursday 10th March saw the final Cross Country match of the season and year. All of the team run magnificently at the Garden Fields track, which included a nasty incline for half the course! Lois, Elodie and Bonnie has been the stalwarts for the girls team and all came in the top 35! The boys all placed in the top 26, meaning that overall they came 2nd in the Small Schools League. Thank you to all the runners who have been a part of the team this season!
A special mention goes out to Seb, who has dominated the boys races, winning every single one! He received the Overall Boys Small School trophy- a brilliant feat considering he is still in Year 5!

Meet 2:

Tuesday 12th October saw our second Cross Country meet, this time at the rather hilly St Columbas track. All runners did incredibly well to stay on their feet and finish in the wet conditions! A special congratulations again to Seb who won the boys small schools race! Our boys team is currently vying for the top spot along with Maple. Our next meet is Thursday 4th November.

Meet 1:

It was great to finally be back at the St Albans Schools Cross Country event on Thursday 23rd September! Despite only one training session, the years of embedded Daily Mile training meant that all of our runners from Years 5 and 6 completed the course at Colney Heath. Well done to all of the runners, but a special mention goes to Seb, who won the Small Schools Boys race.

Welcome back to the Summer Term!
